Waiting for Spring

Happy Thursday!  Victoria back again to show you a tag that I made using components from the Tool Shed Kit:  Winter Adventure.

From the kit:

Maja Designs Denim & Friends - Fashion
Maja Designs papers from the card add on kit
Bark kiln dried Birch
Chip board
Blue Flower
Prima Resin Clock
Kaiser Mist Denim

Ribbon from Webster's design
Twine Jilly Bean Soup
Shimmers Texturez Tidy Widy (from the October Kit)
Stars and Dew Drops Queen and Company
Mist in opaque white
Prima paper clay and face mold

I am pretty happy with the way the ice came out.  I sprayed the chipboard two times with the Kaiser Mists in Denim.  When that had dried thoroughly, I sprayed with an opaque white mist that reactivated the Kaiser mist and created the marbled look.  Finally, once that was dry, I painted dots and splashes of dark color to add emphasis and dimension.

I have been trying out "new" techniques to add to my mixed media.  I used Mod Podge in Matte to adhere the wood strips to the tag.  I love the idea of using natural kiln dried wood on my projects.  I also really loved the difference between the exterior lighter color and the interior color, much more of a reddish brown.  I also made the face from Prima's paper clay.  I let it dry over night turning occasionally so it dried evenly.  I then used the Kaiser Mist in Denim for two coats, drying between each.  I love how the shimmer "drifted" down into the expression.  I adhered the face, once dry to the flower.  The title piece was completed on white card stock on my printer with one of my favorite fonts: Bookman Old Style.  Not sure why I like that one so much, but I find myself using it often.

Anyway, I am looking forward to longer days and the change of seasons.  Hope you enjoyed this tag and let me know if I can tell you anything else about the techniques I used.

Have a great week and see you again soon!

Hey everyone, I'm back today to share my last layout for February created using the Toolshed kit: Winter Adventures from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with the Denim and Friends paper line from Maja Designs.

Here is my layout:

I love this photo of my dh and his very good friend. They look like kids who just got caught doing something they had no business doing. I tried to keep with the playfulness of the photo.

This kit is filled with a lot of fun embellishments.  I used items from the main kit as well as the bonus embellishment and bonus chipboard kit. I pulled in a few things from my stash just to add to it.

Here are some close ups:

I used a stencil and some modeling paste both from my stash for the background. Then I added a bit of blue embossing powder to the wet modeling paste.  I did some more paper tearing. I also cut some scraps of paper into tags to use.

There are fun chipboard pieces and embellishments in the main kit as well as the chipboard bonus kit. I did grab the filmstrip piece from my stash. In most of my masculine layouts I like to leave the chipboard raw.

The flowers are from the bonus embellishment kit. The buttons are in the main kit, so is that awesome clock resin piece. The title pieces are from the bonus embellishment kit. I inked the edges with the blue ink from the main kit.

Here are the kits I used for this layout:

That's all I have for today, thanks for stopping by.

Hello again! I'm Vivian Lake and today I'm sharing with you a new page from the toolshed kit Winter Adventures. This kit is so versatile for just about any boy page you want to make. It has a lovely mix of blue paper by Maja Design, snow, hearts, and other masculine touches.

Seriously, this kit has it all!!

I dabble in two unique styles. One is using large die cuts on my pages while still incorporating negative space. The other is mixed media, which I have shown in previous blog posts. While mixed media is "new" to me, die cuts is my first love as I've been using them for years.

The hearts is a background die cut found on the Silhouette online store by Paige Evans. I then cut out a few hearts (using the same file) to make the background more interesting.

I tried very hard to stick to the kit. I did add a bit of lace from my stash, as well as die cut leaves and thread. These just help make the cluster a bit more "full" looking.

On my previous pages, I heat embossed the chipboard. I felt like the heart was perfect for this page as it was.
