This month's Tool Shed Kit: Winter Adventures and Fairy Garden papers are perfect for cards for teens or young adults in your lives.  I can't even begin to tell you how much amazing stuff is included in the main Tool Shed Kit!

Once again, I am pressed for time for a card.  So I wanted to go for a simple card using three pieces of 6 inch x 6 inch paper.  I selected a denim piece, an ivory piece with denim colored stars and the piece with the masculine images.  Once again, I am working on a grey card background to really make the denim colors pop!

VWMCard1b.jpg

I cut three pieces from the papers.
The background at 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches.
The contrast at 5 1/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches
The piece that is placed horizontally, which is the back of the denim piece I previously cut - just a tiny amount of waste paper that is 4 inches long.
Finally the image I wanted from the final piece.

Next I distressed all of the edges with my scissors.  To be honest I need a new blade for my paper cutter.  Distressing is awesome to cover those ragged edges!

I inked the edges with the Prima Chalk ink, included in the main kit, in "Farmers Jeans".
It really gives an excellent contrast.

I then adhered all of the background pieces together.  I do this in case I don't like how it looks.  I can always change it before committing to the card.  After this background was put together I used the KaiserCraft spray in denim.  For this card I wanted a bit of a grungy look so I didn't even test spray.  So what you see is what I got after "priming"!

I then adhered the image to the card using dimensional tape.  While the mist was drying, I took a denim star and adhered a wooden heart and xoxo from the kit to the heart using tacky glue.  I also tied a bow in the twine included and adhered it to the card.

Finally I put the love wooden piece in the upper corner.  Allowing the entire front to dry.
Once everything is dry and I make sure it is sturdy, I used dry adhesive to adhere the entire piece to the grey card.

This kit is simply amazing.  I can hardly wait until the weekend to play some more with all of the wonderful papers.

Have you checked out our mood board and contest on Facebook?  Be sure to check it out and check out the kit at the store....... AMAZING!

Grimm Canvas and Fall Cards

Here is hoping all of our fans at ISBG had a wonderful Thanksgiving, if you are in the US!  I want to share three cards and a canvas I made with the new Tool Shed Kit:  Spider's Web

This kit is amazing!  I made three cards.  This first card is made with the Fairy Garden add on!  I absolutely adore this image.  I used the argyle paper, the witchy image, a tag and some brown bakers twine.  I absolutely adore the Lindy's mist that was included in the kit.

Card number two is a further back vintage-y feeling card.  I used these supplies:

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch white card base
Black mini doily
Kaiser Craft 13th hour sticker sheet
Pion Designs The Witching Hour - Dark Roses Patterned Paper cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches
Petaloo Orange flowers
Sticker Tim Holtz Ideology Halloween Clipping Stickers
Three yellow sequins.

This last little 4 1/4 inch x 4 1/4 inch card is called I'm Thankful for You.  I used a white card blank, patterned paper from Pion Designs October Garden from the Witching Hour collection and letters from the KaiserCraft 13th Hour Sticker Sheet.  This card is perfect for any fall celebration!

Finally I made this 8 inch square canvas with items from the kit.  I am in love.  My favorite TV show was GRIMM.  One reason was some of it was filmed at the University I was teaching at while the show was on air.  And of course it is filmed in my home town of Portland, Oregon.  This canvas made with all kit items is a nod to the show and the "skull guy".  The sayings were combined to give a GRIMM like attitude and the prescription note reminded me of Rosalee's Spice Shop.  The only thing I added to make this was Mod Podge in Matte and the Lindy's Spray that is purple in Witches Brew, everything and I mean everything else is in this fantabulous kit!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your families and friends!

Hello there! Oh boy, have I gotten onto the mixed media bandwagon!! Vivian Lake here showing my second project using the Toolshed Kit and Summer Concert bonus packs by International Scrapbook Garden.

I had a little help with this layout. I followed Nadia Cannizzo's YouTube video and her techniques quite closely, but the finished layout is still my own. I may be falling in love with mixed media, but I would still consider my style "clean" comparatively.

That may change in time . . . but I'm still very happy with how this turned out.

More details are provided on my personal blog here.

Thanks for stopping by today!!!!

This layout does fall in line with my continual goal to scrap
about my vacation in Germany.

All the colors represented are part of the Toolshed Summer Concert pack
