Valentine Notecards for Boys

7 Dots, Scrapbook Kits, Toolshed KitTracie ShumanComment

Hi! I'm Vivian Lake and am here to share with you some masculine Valentine notecards I made for my son.

I recently watched a process video by Keren Tamir featuring Artist Trading cards. I thought, 'I can make this for my son for Valentine's day month'!

Our young men need encouragement and love the same as our young women.

I have been making notecards for my son for a couple years, but they have been "cute" in nature using die cuts and paper piecing as the main theme. Keren Tamir's video was a huge inspiration for me to use more of the first Toolshed kit at International Scrapbook Garden called Summer Concert.

Without further ado, here they are! Hope you like them!

I made enough to send my son one to school each school day until February 14th. My son is rather sentimental and has saved all his notecards from the previous years. I hope he saves these too.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hey everyone,

Kim here with another layout created with the Summer Concert Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. This is the masculine kit, but it had these beautiful yellow papers in it from 13 Arts. So how do you create a masculine layout with yellow paper? Well let me show you what I did.

Here is my layout:

I incorporated black and grey with the yellow. The chipboard add on had these wonderful chipboard instruments and this guitar was perfect for this photo of Prince. Let's talk about this photo, how perfect was it with the yellow guitar? Oh how I loved Prince.

I colored the music symbol with black archival ink. I left the guitar naked. Like I said I layered torn strips of grey and black paper to break up some of the yellow.

The flowers are from my stash, just some more older petaloo.  I'm having a hard time not adding flowers, lol. I used a die cut for the leaves. I also had a guitar pick a friend gave me, talk about the perfect embellishment.

The kit also came with a music note stamp. I did some random background stamping with some grey archival ink. They I added some mini art stones and black splatters.

Here are some close ups:

That's all I have for today.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Saturday, scrappy friends. I'm popping in today to share a bonus card I made with the Toolshed Summer Concert kit for the International Scrapbook Garden design team. I've already created 3 layouts (with another in the works), and I still have a ton of goodies left, so I created a masculine birthday card for Mr. 67 {which I will have to save until May--but way to get ahead of the game, right!}

I had a blast using all the mixed media elements from the Summer Concert kits. I started out with this gorgeous music stamp, which you can see here.

I have never used clear stickers, and now I want every one ever made in the history of creation. I love that you can create your own background piece and then add the word (or ornamentation) layer. Why have I not been using these before? If you haven't either, try them out and see if you like them and add yet another element to your scrap kit.

You can see I used the stencil from the kit using a Signo Uniball pen in white from my stash as another layer over the stamping.

Stop on over to the International Scrapbook Garden and snap up the Summer Concert kit before it's sold out. Fall kits are coming soon!

Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great weekend :)
