I Met Sam

7 Dots, The Garden KitTracie ShumanComment

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Laurie! I have never met any leprechauns, but I have met a hobbit (Sean Astin, aka Sam from The Lord of the Rings). That's the theme of today's scrapbook layout featuring the Kisses and Snowflakes kit.

I liked how the pink background in the photo matched so well with some of the pink in the 7 Dots Northern Lights collection, so that's primarily the papers and embellishments that I used on this.

But I did add in some of the Prima Zella Teal ephemeraScrapberry's Exquisite Embellishments Create WonderPrima Sunrise Sunset Paper Petals Silver Blue flowersUS Art Quest Prills in Plum Crazy, and Dovecraft Adhesive Gems Perfectly Pink. Then I splattered a little bit of the Shimmerz Vibez Grape Escape. I LOVE that color.

I had a lot of fun creating the cluster of embellishments underneath the photo. It gives the layout a lot of texture and dimension. But it does take forever to strategically lay everything out and make it look like all these embellishments just effortlessly fell there or something!

The next season's kits are in the works (the design team has gotten to see sneak peeks of the papers already), but in the meantime, you can still get your own Kisses and Snowflakes kit, so head on over to the store today!

"Lucy's Hope" with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, everyone!

Sandi here today sharing another project created with the January Kisses and Snowflakes Kit from the International Scrapbook Garden. Along with all the fabulous add-on kits.

This time it's a Lucy page!

My photo is a publicity photo of Lucille Ball from her early movie making days.  I love these more glamorous photos of Lucy because they show a different side of her from what people usually associate with her.

My base layer is 13 Arts Dream paper. It's so beautiful but was hard for me to capture with our rainy days here in Texas. I primed with clear gesso and then sprayed and dripped a generous amount of the Shimmerz Grape in the center. My photo collage got larger than I expected and covered most of it. Story of my life! So, I added more. For texture I've used the Prima stencil and the Lilac Nuvo mousse. To increase the depth, I did some random stamping as well.

The 7 Dots tags were used as layers along with some of Prima Zella Teal ephemera and cheesecloth. Next I began layering my other loose embellishments.

The wood veneer snowflakes add a wintry feel.

All the flowers in the Kit and add-on co-ordinate in such a great way with all the papers.

"Hope" ephemera for my title. And a heart from the Main Kit because don't we all "love" Lucy?

An example of the purple Prills added as another layer.

Lastly, I did some paint splattering with the Shimmerz and with white paint.

Snow Day

The Garden Kit, Bo BunnyTracie ShumanComment

Happy Wednesday! It's Laurie again. Here's another fun layout I made using The International Scrapbook Garden Kisses and Snowflakes kit. I had a picture of my daughter looking warily at the snow back in December, and I just knew that I wanted to incorporate some of that Aleene's Glitter Snow onto a layout with it, so that's what I did!

For this one, I used the BoBunny Winter Playground Forest and Fun papers. I just loved the slate pattern for the background because it mimicked the exterior of our house and our front walk so well.

I cut the other patterned paper into not quite half and separated it on the page so that I had two distinct sides. One side had my picture, and the other side was just going to be embellishments. It's amazing how much strategy goes into trying to make embellishments look lighthearted and as if they just happened to fall into place willy-nilly. Geesh!

I really loved how the teal and silver of the Prima Zella Teal Butterfly Kisses flowers and the Prima Zella Teal word stickers fit so well with the BoBunny papers, but I also used some of the BoBunny Winter Playground sticker tags, too.

And I covered the Creative Embellishments Falling Snow set in the Nuvo Embellishments Mousse Lilac Lavender, which gave it a nice silvery purple sheen, and that fit really well with all of the silver and teal on this layout.

I thought about doing something with the Creative Embellishments chipboard words that I used for my title (a combination of one of the Blizzard Word Set and Love Day), but I decided to leave them as they were so that they would easily be read.

You'll see in the close-ups that there are hints of the Aleene's Glitter Snow here and there. I also tried to paint it on some of the swirls that were in the patterned paper. I think it shows up pretty well on the paper and ends up giving the swirls some nice texture.
