The International Scrapbook Garden

A Rustic Spring

Beauty Lies Within Each of Us

This is my last design team project for The International Scrapbook Garden! I am sad that there will be no more kits for awhile, but I hope that Tracie starts curating them again soon because she is so good at it!

I decided to create a simple card using the Rustic Spring kit, partly because I needed to write back to my aunt and I wanted a nice handmade card to send to her.

A couple months ago I found a pack of blank white notecards in the $1 spot at Target, so that's what I've been using to create my handmade cards. For this one, I just adhered some of the Bo Bunny paper onto the front of the card and filled in any blank spots with a 49 and Market branding strip, the one that said "Beauty Lies Within Each of Us". That's a very nice sentiment!

Then I added all my leftover 49 and Market Floral Mixology Blue Hawaiian flowers to the printed vase on the patterned paper to create some dimension there, tied the pink twine into a bow, and hot glued it to the vase.

Then I just did some black inking around the edge of the card for added effect and to make everything stand out more. It couldn't have been easier!

I hope that you've enjoyed seeing what I've created with The International Scrapbook Garden kits. I know I have enjoyed working with them! And don't forget that you can still purchase past kits and individual items from the shop.

Birdhouse Whimsey

I made this cute little birdhouse using the Rustic Spring Garden Kit.  The flowers came from the Bonus Paper Kit of the Rustic Spring Garden. I used the Shimmerz paints to paint the roof coral and stripe the walls.  You'll find the paints in the Mixed Media Rustic Spring Garden Add-on.

My birdhouse cost $1.00 at a local craft store.  I used Aleene's Tacky Glue to adhere everything.

For the roof I cut 2 inch strips from the white paint paper and painted them with coral reef Shimmerz. I adhered them beginning at the bottom of each side of the roof with adhesive on the top only.  This allowed me to curve the pieces of paper slightly to give a shabby look.  I then cut the side pieces and painted them with the steely blue eyes Shimmerz.  I intentionally did light stripes to give it a little dimension in the woven paper.  I also painted around the bird hole!  I cut 1/4 and 3/8 strips from pink wooden patterned paper to do the eaves and the footing for the house.  Finally I added a 1 inch burlap square, the Prima Flowers and the Blessed sticker mounted on patterned paper and fussy cut.  The final touch was the tiny butterfly on the eaves of the house.  Keep thinking outside of the layout and you can create wonderful off the page gifts!

See the blue stripes on the paper?  They really add shimmer in the sunlight.  And the Prima flowers are so cute and country looking.  I just love them with the tiny house.

Have a wonderful week!  I hope you are having good weather wherever you are.

Bloom Where You Are Planted

Hi, guys, it's Laurie! I'm still creating with my Rustic Spring kit from The International Scrapbook Garden. I kept the 49 and Market flowers pink and red on this layout featuring some photos of my daughter from last year.

I used a 13@rts paper as the background and then created a grid using Fab ScrapsBo Bunny, and 49 and Market papers from the kit. The grid design was inspired by a National Scrapbook Day challenge. How many of you participated in challenges that day or at least got a lot of scrapping done?

I used some of the Creative EmbellishmentsKaisercraft, and 49 and Market chipboard that came in the kit, and I either embossed it with the Imagine Ink Forest Embossing Powder, sprayed it with the Kaisercraft Blackberry spray, stamped it with some Ingvild Bolme chalk ink (one color came from an older ISBG kit), or painted it with the Shimmerz Inklingz Coral Reef.

This came together very easily, and I had fun layering and clustering all of the embellishments. I used my hot glue gun to adhere the embellishments to the page for added strength.

It took a little longer to complete this layout, only because I had to wait for the chipboard to dry before putting it on the page, but I think the extra effort was well worth it.

The Rustic Spring kit is still available to purchase in the shop, so check it out!

Thanks for looking!
