Toolshed Kit

Hey everyone, today I'm sharing another layout for March. I created it using the Toolshed kit: Colorburst from The International Scrapbook Garden. We just revealed the March/April kit. It is filled with the Paint Chips paper line from 7 Dots and lots of other goodies. A fun colorful masculine kit.

Here is my layout:

Let me start off by saying, if you haven't noticed I rarely put titles on my layouts. Sometimes I find it difficult to really describe what is going on in my photos (especially the ones of my dh). So for this layout I chose one of the two-tone sheets of paper for my background. I think it was the best fit for my photo.

I used items from the main kit, the bonus embellishment kit, the bonus chipboard kit as well as the mixed media kit. I pulled in a couple of things from my stash to add as well.

Here are some close up:

I used the stencil from the bonus embellishment kit for my background. I love the different size squares, very rugged. After it dried, I used the Lindy's mist and magicals from the mixed media kit for color. I finished it off some black splatters with ink from my stash.

I used black embossing powder on all the chippies. I think it gives a nice contrast to all the color going on. The tags are from the main kit. I added the black one from card stock, just wanted to tie in some more black.

I added some stenciling, chipboard, flowers and splatters to the opposite side of my layout to balance it out. It just kinda tied it all together.

Here are the kits I used for this layout:

That's all I have for today, thanks for stopping by.

It's brand new kit time at International Scrapbook Garden!!!! Oh my . . . . I can't even begin to express all the happiness coming from this new toolshed kit 'Colorburst'!!

My name is Vivian Lake and today I'll be sharing with you my first project with this awesome new kit.

Other than glue, dimensional paste and gesso, I only reached for one extra stamp from my own stash to make this page. I did use 13arts grained grit and microspheres from the previous toolshed kits (Summer Concert) on this page as well.

I love that International Scrapbook's kit designer used 49 & Market for much of this kit as well. I have never used their products before and it's love at first sight!!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!!

I used black gesso on the creative embellishment pieces. I also reached for 13@rts Black Microspheres and Fine-Grained Grit from previous kits to add a little more texture.

I love the two stencil templates that come with the kits. They are such versatile shapes to be used on a variety of projects.

I first added Lindy's Flat Fabio C'est la vie Cerise as the base color. I then added Lindy's magical shaker Time Travel Teal twice for extra color burst. I followed all of that with a touch of Shimmerz Paste-eez 'Hold the Mustard'. All of these colors are provided in the kits.

Here you can see the many layers I added to the background for color and texture.

Notes of Encouragement

I used the January Toolshed Kit:  Winter Adventure Bonus Fairy Garden papers to make this card.  Additionally I used the Tim Holtz Chipboard Sayings from the Toolshed: Winter Adventures Bonus Embellishments, and a heart from the Bonus Chipboard Kit.  I am in love with these hearts embellished with Stickles.  This card uses the colors "Blue Bayou" and "Mercury Glass".  I wish I could show you the sparkle in real life!

To make this card you need:

1 - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2  inch card
1 - background paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4 inches
1 - dark contrast patterned paper cut to 1 x 5 1/4 inches
1 - dark contrast circle of 2 inches
1 - light patterned paper cut to 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches
Chalk ink (I used Prima's Farmer's Jeans)
1 - Chipboard sentiment of your choice
1 - chipboard heart

Use the sample card to assemble the layers.  I used dry adhesive for all of the patterned papers and wet adhesive for the chipboard sentiment and the heart.

This card really lends itself to any time you need to send a note of encouragement.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again next week.
